Jaipur: In a decisive step toward aligning with Viksit Bharat @2047, the Government of Rajasthan has unveiled its long-term strategic blueprint—“Viksit Rajasthan @2047”—a sweeping roadmap that seeks to transform the state into a powerhouse of economic growth, sustainability, and governance excellence over the next two decades.

Presented by  Chief Secretary V. Srinivas, the vision document is more than a policy statement—it is a structured ambition to reposition Rajasthan as a central pillar in India’s journey toward developed nation status by the centenary of Independence.

A State Ready to Scale

With over 10% of India’s landmass and a rapidly expanding economic base, Rajasthan is uniquely positioned to influence national growth trajectories. Currently ranked among the top state economies, the roadmap sets aggressive targets: scaling to a $350 billion economy by 2028–29 and an extraordinary $4.3 trillion by 2047.

These projections rest on a pragmatic understanding of Rajasthan’s strengths—its leadership in renewable energy, a globally attractive tourism sector, agricultural diversity, and a strategic geographic location bridging northern and western India.

Four Pillars of Transformation

The roadmap is anchored in a four-pronged framework:

  • Human Development: Enhancing education, healthcare, and skill ecosystems
  • Infrastructure & Sustainability: Building resilient, future-ready physical and environmental systems
  • Economic Growth & Employment: Driving industrial expansion and job creation
  • Governance Reforms: Leveraging technology and policy innovation for efficient administration

Rather than operating in silos, these pillars are designed to reinforce each other—ensuring that economic growth is inclusive, and governance remains responsive.

Infrastructure Push Meets Green Ambition

A defining feature of the roadmap is its dual emphasis on infrastructure expansion and environmental sustainability. Rajasthan plans large-scale investments in metro rail systems, expressways, smart cities, and integrated logistics networks—projects aimed at improving connectivity and attracting global capital.

Simultaneously, the state is betting big on clean energy. With a target of up to 290 GW renewable energy capacity by 2047, Rajasthan is positioning itself as India’s green energy hub. This ambition aligns with global climate commitments while unlocking new industrial and employment opportunities.

Governance Goes Digital

Technology sits at the heart of Rajasthan’s governance reforms. Initiatives such as AI-powered public service delivery, blockchain-based administrative systems, and the Raj-UNNATI platform aim to bring real-time transparency and accountability into government functioning.

These tools are expected to reduce bureaucratic delays, improve grievance redressal, and create a more citizen-centric administrative ecosystem—an essential ingredient for sustaining long-term growth.

Business Climate and Investment Momentum

Rajasthan’s reform-driven governance model is already yielding results. By implementing over 350 reforms under the Business Reforms Action Plan, the state has significantly improved its ease of doing business rankings.

This investor-friendly environment was on full display at the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit 2024, where the state secured MoUs worth ₹35 lakh crore, with projects exceeding ₹8 lakh crore already under implementation. The scale of these commitments signals strong investor confidence in Rajasthan’s long-term vision.

Sectoral Reforms and Social Inclusion

Beyond macroeconomic ambitions, the roadmap emphasizes sector-specific transformation:

  • Expansion of healthcare infrastructure and services
  • AI-enabled smart policing systems
  • Clean energy transition in power and industry
  • Industry-aligned skilling to boost employability

Social empowerment remains a cornerstone. The Rajeevika mission continues to uplift over 4.3 million women through self-help groups, reinforcing the link between grassroots empowerment and economic resilience.

The Road Ahead

What sets “Viksit Rajasthan @2047” apart is its integrated vision—combining economic ambition with governance reform, infrastructure expansion with sustainability, and technological innovation with social inclusion.

If executed effectively, the roadmap could transform Rajasthan from a high-potential state into a defining engine of India’s development story—helping turn the aspiration of Viksit Bharat @2047 into a tangible reality.

The challenge, as always, lies not in vision but in execution. But Rajasthan has signaled clearly: it intends not just to participate in India’s growth story—but to help lead it.
