Muzaffarpur, Bihar — A serious dispute over ancestral land has surfaced in Arijpur village under Kanti block of Muzaffarpur district, where a family has alleged illegal occupation of their property through fraudulent documentation and sought a high-level investigation from the state government.
According to the complainants, Ravindra Kumar Sharma and Manoj Kumar Sharma, they are the lawful heirs of their ancestral property originally recorded in the name of their grandfather, the late Kapil Dev Thakur. They stated that their ownership rights were legally established through a compromise decree passed on December 22, 2006, by the court of Sub Judge-II, Muzaffarpur, in Partition Suit No. 375/05.
Despite the court order, the family alleges that in 2009, a sale deed (No. 21288) was fraudulently executed by Banarasi Devi, who allegedly had no legal authority over the land. Through this document, approximately 50 decimals of ancestral land were transferred to Akhilesh Prasad Singh.
The complainants further allege that the same land was subsequently resold in 2016 through another deed (No. 22689) to multiple buyers. Based on these transactions, the Circle Office in Kanti reportedly approved a mutation (Case No. 1341/2018-19), which the family claims was done in violation of the existing court decree.
They have also raised concerns over the role of revenue officials, alleging that the mutation was approved based on questionable reports submitted by local revenue staff without proper verification of legal ownership.
The family has already filed a civil case (Case No. 314/2022), which is currently pending before the court. They also claim to have approached several administrative authorities, including the Circle Officer, Deputy Collector Land Reforms (DCLR), and District Magistrate, but no concrete action has been taken so far.
In a recent development, the complaint has been formally registered with registration number 9999902060526621084, and the matter is scheduled for hearing on May 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM. The venue of the hearing will be communicated to the parties via SMS.
The complainants have demanded cancellation of the alleged fraudulent deeds, annulment of the mutation, restoration of their legal ownership, and strict legal action against those involved in the alleged wrongdoing. They expressed hope that the upcoming hearing will ensure a fair investigation and justice in the matter.
