NEW DELHI: Constl, a pan-India carrier-neutral connectivity provider and Space World Group subsidiary, has completed a 1.6 Tbps channel transmission on its live national long-distance network across the Mumbai-Pune corridor, using Ciena’s WaveLogic 6 Extreme technology.
According to Ciena, Constl is the first company in India to complete a 1.6 Tbps channel over a live NLD network. The achievement builds on the companies’ 1 Tbps transmission milestone in 2025, representing a 60% increase in demonstrated channel capacity.
The live-network deployment is designed to support 800GE services and growing bandwidth requirements from hyperscalers, data centers and AI-driven applications, while improving network scalability and cost efficiency. Ciena’s WL6e technology supports up to 1.6 Tbps coherent capacity and is designed to extend 800G connectivity over long-distance links.
Constl said it is using the technology to expand multi-terabit capacity across its NLD and metro networks. The company describes its pan-India carrier-neutral fiber network as connecting 13-plus cities and more than 100 data centers.
