New Delhi/Mumbai: REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, on Jan. 9 handed over two project-specific special purpose vehicles (SPVs) for intra-state transmission projects in Maharashtra to Ceigall India Limited and The Tata Power Company Limited.

The projects were awarded under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) route, with RECPDCL acting as the bid process coordinator. Both projects will be developed on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis with an implementation period of 24 months, the company said.

RECPDCL handed over Velgaon Power Transmission Limited to Ceigall India Limited following its selection as the successful bidder. The project involves the establishment of a 400/220 kV gas-insulated substation at Velgaon and the line-in-line-out of 400 kV and 220 kV transmission lines, along with associated works.

The SPV was formally transferred by Vijay Kulkarni, Senior General Manager and Head (T&D), RECPDCL, to Dr. Sudhir Rao Hoshing, Whole-time Director, Ceigall India Limited, in the presence of officials from RECPDCL, Ceigall India and the Maharashtra State Transmission Utility.

On the same day, RECPDCL also handed over Jejuri Hinjewadi Power Transmission Limited to The Tata Power Company Limited, which emerged as the successful bidder for the project. The scheme includes the construction of a 400 kV double-circuit transmission line of about 115 km from Jejuri to Hinjewadi, along with related infrastructure.

The SPV was transferred to Piyush Kumar, Head BD–T&D (International), Tata Power, in the presence of senior officials from RECPDCL, Tata Power and the Maharashtra STU.

RECPDCL said the handover of the two SPVs reinforces its role in strengthening India’s transmission infrastructure through transparent and competitive bidding, enabling reliable and efficient power evacuation within Maharashtra.
