RANCHI,As global attention turns to the inaugural Olympic Esports Games scheduled for Riyadh in 2027, Indian nonprofit CyberPeace is expanding its campaign to promote responsible gaming by combining competitive esports with cybersecurity awareness and digital safety.
CyberPeace recently concluded the ninth edition of its CyberPeace Esports League (CEL 9.0) at The Level 7 CyberPeace Café in Ranchi, where gamers from across India competed in a tournament emphasizing teamwork, sportsmanship and responsible online behavior alongside competitive play. Prize money was awarded to the top three finishers.
The organization said the event sought to reinforce cyber resilience and fair play as India’s esports industry continues to expand.
“The recognition of esports on the Olympic stage marks a defining moment for the global gaming ecosystem,” CyberPeace CEO Shiwangi Roy said, adding that the organization aims to develop not only skilled gamers but also responsible digital citizens.
Building on the tournament, CyberPeace announced that the CyberPeace National Esports League 10.0 will be held in Ranchi on Sept. 19-20, ahead of the International Day of Peace. The event will feature a prize pool of ₹2 lakh and is expected to attract gamers, content creators, universities and esports organizations from across India.
CyberPeace said it sees an opportunity for India to emerge as a global leader not only in esports but also in responsible gaming and digital trust as competitive gaming moves toward its Olympic debut. The nonprofit works with governments, the United Nations and industry partners in more than 130 countries on cybersecurity, digital literacy and online safety initiatives.
