BENGALURU: The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) signed a tripartite agreement with the Foundation for Science Innovation and Development (FSID) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) to establish a new Centre of Excellence (CoE) focused on advanced communication technologies.

The CoE will drive research, capacity building, and commercialization in key areas, including 5G Advanced, 6G, quantum communications, cybersecurity, and AI-driven networks. The facility aims to generate intellectual property, support deep-tech startups, and bridge academic research with industry needs.

“By bringing together IISc’s world-class research capabilities with C-DOT’s expertise in indigenous telecom technologies, we are creating a platform that will accelerate breakthrough research,” said Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO of C-DOT. “This collaboration will strengthen India’s self-reliance in critical communication technologies.”

Prof. Neelesh B. Mehta, Chair of IISc’s Department of Electrical Communication Engineering, noted that the project creates long-term collaboration opportunities between researchers and domain experts. FSID CEO Omprakash Subbarao added that the partnership aligns with FSID’s mission to bridge academia and industry for national technological leadership.

This marks C-DOT’s fifth Centre of Excellence, following similar hubs created with IIT Hyderabad, IIT Kanpur, IIT Gandhinagar, and IIT Roorkee.
