Chennai: The Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) Symposium 2025, organized by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) under the Ministry of Communications, concluded successfully today at the IIT Madras Research Park. The three-day event (June 19–21) showcased India’s growing capabilities in next-gen telecom research and development.

Over 500 Telecom Innovators and Experts Participated

The symposium saw active participation from more than 500 delegates, including:

  • Principal Investigators from TTDF-funded projects
  • Senior officials from DoT, TSDSI, C-DoT, Bharat 6G Alliance, and COAI
  • Leading telecom industry players and startups

Key Focus Areas: 6G, Quantum, AI/ML, and More

Over 120 projects were presented, covering cutting-edge domains such as:

  • 6G technologies
  • Quantum communication
  • AI/ML for IoT
  • Non-terrestrial networks (NTNs)
  • Reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS)
  • Secure telecom platforms

These presentations enabled knowledge sharing, inter-project synergy, and identification of shared infrastructure and procurement needs.

Secretary Mittal Highlights Aatmanirbhar Vision

Speaking at the inauguration, Telecom Secretary Dr. Neeraj Mittal reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building a self-reliant telecom ecosystem under the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Jai Anusandhan.

New Testing Facility Opened for Use

A major highlight was the announcement of the Multi-Core Fiber (MCF) Testing Facility, now operational and open to academic and industry researchers for testing and advanced telecom innovation.

Commercialization and IPR Strategy in Focus

The closing session, led by senior DoT officials including DDG (TTDF) and DDG (SRI), summarized the key discussions and emphasized:

  • Commercialization strategies for R&D outcomes
  • Intellectual property (IP) generation
  • Encouraging collaboration across projects

Accelerating India’s Telecom R&D Ecosystem

The insights and outcomes from the TTDF Symposium 2025 are expected to accelerate telecom innovation and strengthen India’s R&D capabilities in line with global standards.
