Gurugram: In a significant step towards promoting sports infrastructure in India, REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Ministry of Power, has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with THDC India Limited (THDCIL).

Under the agreement, REC Limited has pledged financial assistance of ₹3.97 crore for constructing an Olympic-size swimming pool at the THDCIL Water Sports High-Performance Academy for Canoeing and Kayaking, located in Koteshwar, Tehri, Uttarakhand.

The project aims to provide world-class training facilities for water sports athletes and position the academy as a center of excellence in India.

The agreement was signed by Shri Pradeep Fellows, Executive Director of CSR at REC, and Shri Amardeep, General Manager at THDCIL, in presence of Shri Vivek Kumar Dewangan, Chairman and Managing Director of REC Limited; Shri Harsh Baweja, Director (Finance), REC; and Shri Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel), THDCIL.

REC Limited’s support underscores its dedication to social responsibility and nation-building. By funding this project, the company continues to contribute to initiatives that drive sustainable development and uplift underserved communities.

Once completed, the Olympic-size swimming pool is expected to attract promising talent from across the country, offering them a platform to hone their skills and achieve excellence in water sports. It also has the potential to host training camps and competitions, further elevating India’s status in the global sports arena.
