New Delhi: Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Secretary S Krishnan, while emphasizing the growing importance of trusted connectivity in today’s digital landscape, underlined the role of NIXI (National Internet Exchange of India) in delivering trusted connectivity to users.

Mr. Krishnan, who is also the Chairman of the NIXI, said this after inaugurating the NIXI’s new office building at the World Trade Centre in Nauroji Nagar, New Delhi.

Mr Krishnan commended the initiatives taken by NIXI to make dot in (.in) domain names more affordable, accessible, and appealing.

“NIXI’s role in providing trusted connectivity is more essential than ever, both for India and the global community. Their recent innovations highlight significant potential for expanding their services.” The MeitY secretary said.

As part of the ceremony, Secretary MeitY announced a number of NIXI initiatives, including a Festive Offer for.in Accredited Registrars, aimed at increasing user adoption of the.in domain.

The occasion marked the release of NIXI’s CSR Impact Assessment Report for Fiscal Year 23-24, which highlighted the organization’s CSR achievements. The report highlighted Nixi’s efforts to promote digital literacy, increase internet accessibility, and contribute to community development.

It also laid out future objectives, confirming NIXI’s commitment to advancing India’s digital economy and social empowerment efforts.

The event saw the signing of a strategic agreement with TCIL to install the NIXI SSL Certificate Authority, aimed at improving internet security in India.

Senior officials of the Ministry including  Additional Secretary  Bhuvnesh Kumar,  Joint Secretary and Financial Adviser Rajesh Singh,, and, Joint Secretary Sushil Pal also graced the occasion.

The inauguration of NIXI’s new office underscores the organization’s dedication to expanding India’s digital infrastructure, fostering secure and accessible internet services, and reinforcing its leadership in internet governance.

The National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI), a non-profit organization under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, aims to boost internet penetration and adoption in India by facilitating infrastructure and services.
