NEW DELHI: IndianOil, in collaboration with Finovista, organized a workshop on “Catalyzing Corporate Partnerships for Indoor Solar Cooking Systems” in New Delhi.

The event focused on expanding access to Surya Nutan, IndianOil’s hybrid indoor solar cooking device, by integrating it with government schemes, corporate foundations, and civil society initiatives. Launched during India Energy Week 2023, Surya Nutan is designed to provide a sustainable, low-maintenance solution for clean cooking in India.

Key attendees included J.K. Jethani, Senior Director at the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE); Dr. Vibha Dhawan, Director General of The Energy & Resources Institute (TERI); and senior officials from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Climate Parliament, and IndianOil.

Discussions centered on product design, pricing, supply chain challenges, and user adoption strategies. Experts highlighted the role of policy support, corporate partnerships, carbon credit utilization, and business model development in driving mass adoption. Behavioral shifts required for wider acceptance were also deliberated.

Participants explored ways to expand Surya Nutan’s reach through corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives and financing mechanisms for clean cooking technologies. The workshop concluded with a consensus on fostering collaboration to promote sustainable cooking solutions.
