NEW DELHI: Civil Services officer Samrat Bandopadhyay, a 2010 batch officer, continues to blaze a trail of academic and professional excellence, exemplifying the ethos of “Walk the Talk.” A top-ranking engineering graduate, MBA topper, and LL.B., overall highest scorer from IIT Kharagpur, Bandopadhyay has emerged as a rare blend of intellect, dedication, and impact in governance.
In a standout achievement, he was declared a “Megastar” in the January–April 2025 semester on the Ministry of Education’s NPTEL platform, topping all 12 enrolled courses. He now holds the unprecedented distinction of ranking first in 32 out of 33 courses across disciplines offered by IITs and IISc.
Recognised for topping the IGoT Karmayogi learning platform 12 times in a row, including within the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Bandopadhyay was also nominated as a “Lead Trainer” under the Government’s Rashtriya Karmayogi initiative.
Leveraging his background in Information Science and MBA in Information Systems, he contributed to UI/UX development of the IGoT platform and was officially recognised for his technical inputs. His recent certification in Film Appreciation from FTII-IIMC adds another feather to his cap.
Union MoS Dr. L. Murugan and the Capacity Building Commission have lauded his commitment to learning and public service. “Education is the manifestation of perfection already in man,” he says, quoting Swami Vivekananda, reflecting his belief in lifelong learning for national progress.
