BENGALURU: Diageo India (United Spirits Ltd.) has released its fourth annual ESG Reporting Index, highlighting its 99% renewable energy use in direct operations and achieving 50% women representation on its Executive Committee. The company’s ‘Spirit of Progress’ agenda drove a 93% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions since 2020 by eliminating coal use.
The report detailed improved water-use efficiency by 54% in distillation and the replenishment of 182,000 cubic meters of water in the financial year. The company also achieved zero waste to landfill and confirmed 99% recyclable packaging material.
“Our Spirit of Progress ESG agenda reflects the business we are deliberately building—one that grows responsibly, leads with integrity, and creates long-term value,” said Jitendra Mahajan, chief supply and sustainability officer for Diageo India. Diversity efforts included hiring 43 Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and engaging 500,000 consumers in anti-drunk driving initiatives in the fiscal year.
