New Delhi: At WAPCOS Limited, the ouster of former CMD Rajnikant Agarwal was meant to signal reforms. Instead, insiders say, his old guard remains entrenched — still influencing tenders, audits, and internal postings.
The group, comprising Sumir Chawla, Rajat Jain, Seema Sharma, Deepank Agarwal, Sanjay Sharma, Deepak Lakhanpal, Vimal Chander, Anupam Chandra, and Sanjay Bohidar, continues to hold key roles in operations and finance.
“These are the real power brokers,” said a mid-level officer. “They know where the paperwork is buried, and they protect each other.”
Whistleblower complaints naming this circle have allegedly been buried, while vigilance notes were ignored. “The system didn’t collapse,” said another official. “It was captured.”
With no visible reform or investigation, many within WAPCOS believe the culture of impunity is now institutionalized — with the same players running the show under new names.
