NEW DELHI: India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has launched a new Aadhaar-based face authentication feature to enable secure, contactless banking services across the country. The move is aimed at making digital transactions more inclusive, particularly for the elderly, differently-abled, and customers facing challenges with fingerprint or OTP-based verifications.

Developed under the UIDAI framework, the technology allows customers to authenticate transactions using facial recognition instead of physical biometrics or one-time passwords.

“This isn’t just about convenience—it’s about dignity. We are ensuring no one is left behind,” said IPPB MD & CEO R Viswesvaran. The facility supports key banking services including account opening, balance inquiries, fund transfers, and utility payments.

IPPB said the initiative aligns with the Government of India’s Digital India and Financial Inclusion missions, reinforcing its commitment to last-mile banking through its vast postal network.

Established in 2018 under the Department of Posts, IPPB operates across over 1.65 lakh post offices, primarily in rural areas, and serves over 11 crore customers nationwide.
