NEW DELHI – The National Statistics Office (NSO) under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) will host a Conference of State Government Ministers on Strengthening of Statistical Systems on April 5 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
The conference will focus on the importance of producing accurate, relevant, and timely statistics at both national and sub-national levels. Discussions will emphasize the need for state-level socio-economic estimates and enhanced collaboration between the central and state governments to improve statistical systems.
Key topics will include implementing the Support for Statistical Strengthening (SSS) scheme, state participation in National Sample Surveys for district-level estimates, and improving sub-national GDP, IIP, and CPI compilation.
The event will also cover MoSPI’s innovations in official statistics, technical support for states and union territories, increased use of administrative data, and refining sub-national monitoring frameworks for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Statistics and Programme Implementation Rao Inderjit Singh, along with chief ministers, deputy chief ministers, state planning ministers, senior state and UT officials, and MoSPI representatives, are expected to attend.
