RECPDCL transfers transmission project SPVs to Power Grid Corporation

GURUGRAM: REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd. (RECPDCL) has transferred three Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) for interstate transmission system (ISTS) projects to Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (PGCIL). The handover took place on March 24 in Gurugram.

PGCIL was selected as the Transmission Service Provider (TSP) through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process conducted by RECPDCL. The projects, awarded on a Build, Own, Operate & Transfer (BOOT) basis, include Banaskantha Transco Ltd., Kurnool-IV Transmission Ltd., and Rajasthan V Power Transmission Ltd.

T.S.C. Bosh, CEO of RECPDCL, handed over the SPVs to Pankaj Pandey, executive director of PGCIL, in the presence of officials from RECPDCL, PGCIL, and Central Transmission Utility of India Ltd.

Project Details:

  • Banaskantha Transco Ltd.: Augmentation of transformation capacity at Banaskantha (Raghanesda) Pooling Station (GIS) with 2×500 MVA, 400/220 kV ICTs and associated works. Estimated cost: ₹143.35 crore.
  • Kurnool-IV Transmission Ltd.: Establishment of a 4×1500 MVA, 765/400 kV and 4×500 MVA, 400/220 kV Kurnool-IV Pooling Station near Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. Includes 765 kV transmission lines of 375 km from Kurnool-IV to Bidar and 127 km from Kurnool-IV to Kurnool-III. Estimated cost: ₹4,727.05 crore.
  • Rajasthan V Power Transmission Ltd.: Transmission system for power evacuation from the Sirohi substation (2 GW) and common evacuation from Sirohi PS (2 GW) and Merta-II PS (2 GW). Estimated cost: ₹4,736.23 crore.

The projects are expected to be completed within 24 months.
