New Delhi: The International Baccalaureate (IB) is seeing an increase in the global adoption of the innovative Career-Related Programme (CP).Now, it intends to open 100 new CP schools over the next five years.

Currently, over 26 schools in India are now authorised to offer this programme. Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bhubaneshwar, and other major cities have expressed interest in this innovative programme.

During the School Leaders Summit—IBCP Confluence 2023—held at Aerocity on Thursday, interesting insights and facts about the growing popularity of the IB’s CP were revealed. It’s worth noting that over the last two years, the number of schools offering the IB curriculum has increased by more than 300%.

With 370 authorised schools worldwide, the internationally recognised programme has a massive global presence and following among parents and students. As of October 2023, over 8,000 IB programmes were available in over 5,700 schools across 159 countries.

The World Academy of Career Programmes (WACP) and the International Baccalaureate successfully hosted the IBCP Confluence in New Delhi, which was attended by over 200 school leaders, educators, counsellors, and industry experts.

The summit, attended by educators and industry leaders, discussed the impact of a new-age curriculum on education, aiming to make IB’s career-related program affordable and accessible to all.

The IB, with over 378 programmes across 220 schools in India, is collaborating with WACP to provide schools with deeper insights into the unique CP qualification and its curriculum, empowering students and teachers for the future workforce, said Haif Bannayan, Global Director of Business Development, IB.

The IBCP programme aims to provide students with a strong foundation in diverse career paths after grade 10, including sports management, artificial intelligence, business administration, data science, and event management, aligning with the New Education Policy’s 2020 vision, said Dr. Balkishan Sharma, Founder, WACP.

Rohit Sen Bajaj, School Director at Pathways School Gurgaon, said they have witnessed a positive growth in students’ learning potential after introducing the IBCP programme with WACP CRS Artificial Intelligence and Business Administration, preparing them for the global community and India’s future leadership.

The IB’s career-related programme, launched in leading schools across India, prepares Grade 11 and 12 students for careers or further study, offering a unique blend of academic study and career-related skills.
