IndianOil to power India’s women’s hockey team

New Delhi: IndianOil, the country’s largest energy company, will now power the Indian Women’s Hockey Team, a historic first for any corporate in India. Nine members of the Indian Hockey team have been inducted into the IndianOil family as part of the company’s new sports policy, which promotes women’s hockey. 

Suman Devi Thoudam, Rajwinder Kaur, Rashmita Minz, Sharmila Devi, Ishika Chaudhary, Bichu Devi Kharibam, Deepika, Baljeet Kaur, and Akshata Dhekale are among the nine women’s hockey players. Haryana, Punjab, Manipur, Odisha, and Maharashtra are among the states represented by these nine players. These female athletes have participated in international competitions such as the Tokyo Olympics and the Asian Champions Trophy, among others. Mr. S M Vaidya, Chairman of IndianOil, handed over appointment letters to the nine players in the presence of functional directors of IndianOil and Federation of International Hockey (FIH) President, Dr. Narinder Dhruv Batra, who is also President of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).

Speaking at the induction ceremony of the nine female hockey players on International’s Women Day, Chairman, IndianOil, Mr S M Vaidya, highlighting IndianOil’s social commitment, said: “We recognise how Sports is the most effective vehicle of ushering in enduring social change. Thus, IndianOil’s commitment to gender equality had to manifest in our sporting outreaches. Recently IndianOil was conferred “Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar” for encouragement to sports through CSR. This recognition at the highest level symbolizes IndianOil’s contribution to the promotion of sports over the last several decades”.Mr. S M Vaidya, Chairman of IndianOil, spoke at the induction ceremony of the nine female hockey players on International Women’s Day, highlighting IndianOil’s social commitment: “We recognise that sports are the most effective vehicle for bringing about long-term social change. As a result, IndianOil’s commitment to gender equality had to be reflected in our sporting outreach. IndianOil was recently awarded the “Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar” for its support of sports through CSR. This highest level of recognition represents IndianOil’s contribution to sports promotion over the last several decades.”Speaking at the induction ceremony of the nine female hockey players on International’s Women Day, Chairman, IndianOil, Mr S M Vaidya, highlighting IndianOil’s social commitment, said: “We recognise how Sports is the most effective vehicle of ushering in enduring social change. Mentioning about IndianOil’s revamped sports policy, Mr Vaidya said, “Last year, we released our revised sports policy, included the provision for recruiting women hockey players for the first time. I am glad that within a few months of the policy’s rollout, we are witnessing the conversion of intent into action.”Mr. Vaidya mentioned IndianOil’s revamped sports policy, saying, “We released our revised sports policy last year, which included a provision for recruiting female hockey players for the first time. I am pleased that, just a few months after the policy’s implementation, we are seeing the policy’s intent translated into action.”Mentioning about IndianOil’s revamped sports policy, Mr Vaidya said, “Last year, we released our revised sports policy, included the provision for recruiting women hockey players for the first time. Addressing the gathering, IndianOil’s Director (Human Resources), Mr Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra, “Sports is not just a CSR obligation for IndianOil but is part of our philosophy of Pehle Indian Phir Oil. We recognise the power sports have to unify a nation and bring people together in resonance with the national spirit”. Mr. Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra, IndianOil’s Director (Human Resources), addressed the gathering, saying, “Sports is not just a CSR obligation for IndianOil; it is part of our Pehle Indian Phir Oil philosophy. “We recognise the power sports have to unite a nation and bring people together in resonance with the national spirit.” Addressing the gathering, IndianOil’s Director (Human Resources), Mr Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra, “Sports is not just a CSR obligation for IndianOil but is part of our philosophy of Pehle Indian Phir Oil. We recognise the power sports have to unify a nation and bring people together in resonance with the national spirit”.

IndianOil has taken up the mantle to support Women’s Hockey which holds immense potential as witnessed by the entire world in the Tokyo Olympics. IndianOil is determined to harness the budding talent in Women’s Hockey present across India and give them a platform to bring laurels for the nation. The recruitment of these nine players in the IndianOil fold is the first of many steps by the Corporation to take women’s hockey in India to the pinnacle of success. IndianOil has stepped up to support women’s hockey, which has enormous potential, as witnessed by the entire world at the Tokyo Olympics. IndianOil is determined to identify and develop emerging talent in women’s hockey across India and provide them with a platform to bring honour to the country. The incorporation of these nine players into the IndianOil fold is the first of many steps that the corporation will take to elevate women’s hockey in India to new heights of success. IndianOil has taken up the mantle to support Women’s Hockey which holds immense potential as witnessed by the entire world in the Tokyo Olympics. IndianOil is determined to harness the budding talent in Women’s Hockey present across India and give them a platform to bring laurels for the nation.
