National Conference on e-Governance concludes

Hyderabad: Union Science and Technology Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh has said that the e-Governance initiatives should be citizen-centric and increase transparency and accountability.

Addressing the 24th National Conference on e-Governance in Hyderabad on Friday, the minister stressed the need for the right and optimum use of e-Governance initiatives, especially in the post-Covid era. The minister said the purpose of e-Governance is to bring ease of life for common citizens.

He said the e-governance initiatives taken during the past few years, have provided flexy timings and helped people, especially employees during the COVID pandemic. He also felt that e-learning has been strengthened during the COVID time.

Stating that over 27 lakh e-files are there in the central Government whereas 10 lakh physical files are existing, the government has gone nearly paperless during the pandemic. Over grievances and redressal, the Minister said the linking of Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System with that of the states is almost done realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for one nation-one portal.

Speaking on the occasion, Telangana IT Minister K Taraka Ramarao urged the center to revisit the policy and sanction Hyderabad the Information Technology Investment Region, two more Electronics Manufacturing Clusters to the state, and a National Space Centre under the InSpace policy.

Secretary Administrative Reforms, V Srinivas informed that Hyderabad Declaration to take administrative reforms and IT initiatives to the next level.

The two-day conference, jointly held in Hyderabad by the union Electronics & Information Technology ministry, Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DAPRG), Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances in collaboration with Telangana Government, has unanimously adopted the Hyderabad declaration, on its culmination today.

The conference further resolved to fast track implementation of the national-level public digital platforms in key social sectors like Health, Education, and Agriculture sectors and operationalize the data governance framework to facilitate data sharing within Government entities.

It resolved to foster responsible use of emerging technology like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Blockchain, 5G, for Social Empowerment. It also resolved to make India the global hub for emerging technology through the creation of a large pool of skilled resources on futuristic technologies, ensure resilient Government Infrastructure, uplift good governance to a higher level through healthy competition among States, Integration of all State and District portals with CPGRAMS for seamless Redressal of Public Grievances, among others.
