New Delhi: Maharatna Ministry of Power CPSU REC Limited has provided support to the Indian Junior Badminton team in preparing for the Badminton Asia Junior Championships as a part of its CSR assistance of Rs 100 Crore to the National Sports Development Fund.

Speaking at Tau Devilal Stadium in Panchkula on Sunday, REC CMD Vivek Kumar Dewangan said, “The goal is to groom and nurture our young players right from sub-junior level. We must identify talent and provide world-class training facilities and an environment for them to bring medals under the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS).”

Indian junior shuttlers have been training in Panchkula for the past two weeks in preparation for the Badminton Asia Junior Championships to be held in Indonesia from July 7–16.

Shri Sanjay Mishra, General Secretary of the Badminton Association of India (BAI), expressed his gratitude to REC Limited, saying, “We at BAI are extremely delighted to welcome REC Limited and Shri Vivek Kumar Dewangan (REC CMD) to the badminton family.”

As part of this collaboration with REC Limited, BAI intends to increase development and training programmes that will aid in achieving excellence while also driving grassroots projects and necessary support systems for badminton in India.
