New Delhi: Union Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya Scindia on Tuesday chaired a high-level review meeting on the development of the Matabari Tourism Circuit in Tripura, with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha joining the deliberations.
Detailed presentations showcased initiatives aimed at transforming Tripura into a vibrant hub of cultural, spiritual and eco-tourism. The discussions centered on strengthening international connectivity at Agartala airport and redesigning key tourist destinations such as Neer Mahal, Tepania, Jampui Pura and Udaipur.
Scindia emphasized plans to develop the scenic Dumbur islands through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to attract private investment while ensuring sustainability.
He also underscored the importance of integrating civil conservation architecture and building capacity across seven verticals — including training local guides and tourism-related services — to generate employment and enhance skills within the sector.
Calling for global benchmarking, Scindia urged officials to study successful models from destinations such as the Maldives, Lakshadweep, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Kevadia.
“Guided by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make every state a global tourism destination, we are committed to unlocking Tripura’s immense potential and showcasing its rich cultural and spiritual heritage to the world,” Scindia said.
