Pichhore, Shivpuri (Madhya Pradesh): Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia today announced the launch of two new India Post services — Speed Post 24 and Speed Post 48 — aimed at ensuring time-bound delivery within 24 hours and 48 hours, respectively.
Speaking at a public programme in Pichhore in Shivpuri district, Scindia said the new services mark a significant step in the modernisation of India Post and will set a new standard for fast, reliable and accountable postal delivery.
The minister inaugurated the renovated Pichhore sub-post office, upgraded at a cost of ₹2 lakh, and laid the foundation stone for a new sub-post office building to be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹1.11 crore. The bhoomi pujan ceremony was held during the same event.
Scindia, who also represents Guna in the Lok Sabha, said India Post is evolving into a technology-enabled, citizen-centric service while maintaining its extensive reach in rural and semi-urban areas. He said the introduction of Speed Post 24 and Speed Post 48 would benefit small businesses, traders and citizens by improving turnaround times for documents and parcels.
Postal department officials, local administrators and residents were present at the event. The initiative is part of the central government’s broader push to strengthen logistics, last-mile connectivity and public service delivery through India Post.
