Months after his removal as Chairman and Managing Director of WAPCOS Limited, Rajnikant Agarwal continues to draw full executive pay, housing, and transport — all funded by taxpayers, without any assigned role.
The Ministry of Jal Shakti has not initiated disciplinary proceedings, and vigilance agencies have remained silent despite detailed complaints of corruption, financial manipulation, and suppression of audits.
During his tenure, Agarwal was accused of engineering tenders for personal gain, misusing project budgets for luxury travel, and silencing whistleblowers. “He was removed in title, not in consequence,” said a senior official familiar with the matter.
Within WAPCOS, frustration simmers as Agarwal’s associates continue to hold influence. “He left, but his network didn’t,” said one engineer. “They still decide what moves.”
For many, the scandal is not just about one man — but about a system that shields misconduct instead of confronting it.
