Chandigarh: REC Limited, a Maharatna CPSE under the Ministry of Power and a leading NBFC, has committed ₹4.29 crore for the procurement and deployment of four Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) across four districts in Punjab.
The MMUs were handed over to the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Punjab, and were officially flagged off by Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria at Punjab Raj Bhawan.

The mobile units, part of REC’s flagship CSR initiative, are designed to provide essential healthcare services to underserved communities in Punjab, offering a lifeline to the deprived and underprivileged.

This initiative is part of REC Foundation’s continued efforts to expand its CSR impact, with several MMUs already operational across India.

Speaking at the event, the Hon’ble Governor of Punjab commended REC’s initiative for bringing doorstep healthcare services to marginalized communities. “This initiative will go a long way in improving the health and well-being of people in remote areas,” he remarked.

The flag-off ceremony was attended by senior officials including Shri K. Siva Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary to the  Governor, Shri V.P. Singh, Principal Secretary to the  Governor, Shri S. Dhillon, CEO of IRCS Punjab, and other senior state officials.

REC representatives present at the event included Shri Pradeep Fellows, ED (CSR), REC, and Shri M.A. Ali, Senior CPM, REC Panchkula.

REC Foundation has supported over 400 projects across various sectors, including healthcare, sanitation, clean water access, education, skill development, women empowerment, sports, and environmental sustainability.

With over ₹1,300 crore disbursed in CSR funds, REC’s cumulative commitment to CSR activities has surpassed ₹2,000 crore to date.
