Manesar: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated India’s largest automobile Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal at Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.’s Manesar facility in Haryana. The terminal, connected to Patli station via a 10 km dedicated rail link, can handle up to 4.5 lakh vehicles annually.
Part of the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor, the ₹800 crore terminals were developed jointly by HRIDC and Maruti Suzuki. The Minister called it a “landmark in rail-based logistics” and highlighted Indian Railways’ transformation with a tenfold budget increase since 2014.
He announced new measures, including Aadhaar-KYC-based Tatkal booking from July 1, augmentation of MEMU and Namo Bharat trains, and the rollout of six more Amrit Bharat trains.
Indian Railways moved 720 crore passengers and 1,617 million tonnes of freight in FY 2023–24, achieving the world’s second-highest freight volume. In Haryana, ₹11,800 crore worth of projects are underway, including full network electrification, new lines, and station upgrades.
