DUBLIN — The Embassy of India in Dublin hosted the first-ever cultural event dedicated to Assam in Ireland, inspired by the vision of India’s cultural and spiritual unity in diversity and Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat.
The program featured a multi-media presentation on the rich historical, cultural, culinary, and tourist heritage of Assam. It also included traditional dances, Assamese poetry recitals, and a display of textiles and crafts. The event was made possible with the support of the Assam Association of Ireland, headed by Shri Diganta Malakar.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador of India to Ireland H.E. Shri Akhilesh Mishra expressed his pleasure in hosting the presentation. He noted that the event was a reflection of the vibrant and active Assamese community in Ireland, estimated to be around 200 people. Mishra emphasized the importance for all Indians to learn about the richness and creative genius of their brothers and sisters in other parts of India, encouraging mutual enrichment and collaborative growth both nationally and internationally.
Mishra recalled that the State Cultural Event Series was launched in September 2023 to encourage the Indian diaspora in Ireland and the Irish people to learn about the diverse unity of Bharat.
