A Leader Rooted in Community

In the civic and political landscape of Ranchi, one name that is increasingly being discussed for grassroots leadership is Ajit Kachhap (Bhagat). The newly elected councillor from Ward No. 34 of the Ranchi Municipal Corporation emerged victorious in a highly competitive election where 22 candidates contested. His victory reflects the trust and confidence that residents have placed in his ability to represent their voices and work for the development of the ward. By Ravindra Kr. Sharma

Ajit Kachhap’s journey toward public service is shaped by both education and a deep connection with society. He holds a Master’s degree in Political Science along with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree, which gives him a strong understanding of governance, administration, and legal matters. His academic background, combined with his grassroots involvement, has helped him gain respect among people in his ward and surrounding areas.
Professionally associated with the legal field as an advocate, Ajit Kachhap is widely known for his approachable nature and cooperative attitude. Residents describe him as someone who listens patiently and works to resolve issues collectively. Over the years, he has remained closely connected with village communities and local organizations, often guiding and supporting people in social and civic matters.

Another important aspect of his public life has been his work among the tribal (ST) community. Being actively involved in tribal welfare initiatives, he has worked to raise awareness about education, rights, and social participation within the community. Through organizational activities and social engagement, he has supported several efforts aimed at improving opportunities and representation for tribal youth and families.

His association with the Bharatiya Janata Party also reflects his long-standing involvement in political organization. In 2013, he served as Vice President of the ST Morcha, which allowed him to work more closely with tribal communities and address their concerns.

Supporters believe that Ajit Kachhap has the vision and leadership needed to transform Ward 34 into a model smart ward. With a focus on cleanliness, infrastructure, and community participation, he aims to contribute toward the broader development of Ranchi. If similar leadership emerges across all 53 wards, the dream of making Ranchi a cleaner and better-managed city could soon become a reality.
