DUBLIN — The Indian Embassy in Dublin on Tuesday hosted a hybrid event promoting trade, tourism, and investment opportunities across India’s North Eastern states, drawing officials from the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER), Invest India, Irish government agencies, county chambers, and business leaders from both nations.
Presentations by senior MDoNER and Invest India officials highlighted the region’s rapid socio-economic progress, diverse culture, natural landscapes, and expanding investment-friendly policies. They underscored growing prospects in tourism, crafts, organic products and cross-border commerce
.
India’s Ambassador to Ireland Akhilesh Mishra said the event coincided with Ireland’s role as partner country for Nagaland’s Hornbill Festival, symbolizing deepening cultural ties. He noted a shift from India’s earlier “Look East” approach to a more robust “Act East” strategy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing major upgrades in airports, roads and bridges across the Northeast.
Mishra encouraged targeting high-end adventure, eco- and wellness tourism, and leveraging new airports to tap Western markets for organic goods, herbal medicines and textiles with greater local value addition. He said the embassy will continue supporting these initiatives.
