NEW DELHI: REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd. (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Maharatna CPSU REC Ltd., has handed over the Davanagere Power Transmission Ltd. Special purpose vehicle (SPV) to Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (PGCIL) for the development of a key interstate transmission project.
PGCIL was selected as the Transmission Service Provider through a tariff-based competitive bidding process conducted by RECPDCL, the bid process coordinator. The project will be executed on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis with an implementation period of 24 months.
The handover took place on Sept. 24, with RECPDCL CEO T.S.C. Bosh transferring the SPV to Arup Kumar Samanta, senior DGM at PGCIL’s Company Secretariat, in the presence of senior officials from RECPDCL, PGCIL, and Central Transmission Utility of India Ltd.
The project involves augmenting the transformation capacity at Davanagere Power Station with the addition of a 1×1500 MVA, 765/400 kV interconnecting transformer and four 500 MVA, 400/220 kV interconnecting transformers, along with 220 kV line bays. The estimated cost of the scheme is ₹366.26 crore.
