NEW DELHI: Union Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya M. Scindia electrified students at IIIT-Delhi’s annual tech fest, ESYA, with a call for India’s youth to shape the nation’s rise as Vishwaguru Bharat.
Framing India’s civilizational legacy as a global knowledge hub, Scindia said, “From Aryabhata’s zero to Nalanda and Takshashila that drew seekers from across the world — this quest for knowledge is in our DNA. That spark still lies within us.”
The minister hailed the tech fest as a “launchpad to enact bold dreams” and urged students to anchor innovation in values, reminding them that “India has never raised war and believes in Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.”
AI, 6G, Quantum at the Forefront
Scindia spotlighted India’s drive in frontier technologies, declaring that what IT achieved 40 years ago, AI will do today — provided it evolves as “Responsible AI for All.” He said the Department of Telecommunications’ Telecom Technology Development Fund has already invested in more than 120 projects spanning quantum computing, terahertz communication, bio-nano systems, indigenous chipsets and encrypted routers.
He reaffirmed India’s ambition to lead in 6G, contributing at least 10% of global patents by 2030, and stressed that the heart of that effort lies within Indian students.
From Brain Drain to Brain Gain
Scindia urged students who study abroad to return and rebuild the nation, turning “brain drain into brain gain.” He emphasized that solutions must serve the farmer seeking precision agriculture, the child in a digital classroom and the patient in a small town relying on tele-health.
Three Mantras for Youth
Concluding with a rallying cry, Scindia offered three guiding mantras — “Be Bold, Be Rooted and Build for Bharat” — which drew thunderous applause.
“The opportunity of the next 100 years lies in India,” he said. “Carry forward the spirit of Asia, the spirit of India, to shine on the world stage.”
